Responsibilities

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Clinical Insights Director! This position can be remote/home based.

The Clinical Insights Director will support efforts to leverage existing AHA research platforms and clinical data sets to further science and innovation. This role will will cultivate relationships with clinical and insustry thought leaders, external stakeholders and partner organizations to create create opportunities to leverage AHA research platforms and data sets in novel projects aligning with AHA’s mission. In addition to working to maximize utility of AHA’s existing data sets, this position will also identify and pursue opportunities for prosepective research projects where the AHA registry infrastructre can be used for prospective data collection. Finally, this position will lead product development and operations for the Precision Medicine Platform, a cloud based, secure analytic environment, where investigators can collaborate on cutting edge research.

The sucessful candidate should posess a strong understanding of cardiovascular disease and stroke data sets, clinical research (both academic and industry) and regulations. This role will regularlly liaise with volunteer and industry thought leaders as well as work cross functionally with AHA Science, Research, Legal and Development teams. This role will also oversee vendor relationships, budgeting and contract negotiations for AHA research platforms.The desiredc candidate will have strong communication skills, neogotiation skills and be results driven.

  • Drive growth in the use of AHA data sets clinical research and accelerated scientific discovery, including opportunities to bring therapies that may benefit heart and stroke patients to market more rapidly

  • Manage the Precision Medicine Platform product and operations, including product roadmap, product revenue, budgeting and operations

  • Develop new relationships with academic and industry partners to expand the use of AHA research platforms and AHA data sets

  • Support the development and execution of a research platform data strategy, including strategic growth opportunities, communication and outreach and emerging areas

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for prospective research projects where the AHA registry infrastructure can be used for prospective data collection

  • Negotiate vendor, clinical data and research contracts with external parties in partnership with AHA legal and development teams

  • Lead efforts to improve communication with stakeholders, volunteers, and industry to increase understanding of AHA data sets and their application in clinical research

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

  • Five (5) – Eight (8) years of relevant experience

  • A minimum of recent 5 years’ experience business development professional

  • Experience with clinical data sets, clinical research, real world-evidence, and regulatory filings

  • Cardiovascular Clinical knowledge a must. This may be as a degreed health professional or through experience in the health care arena

  • Ability to understand, interpret and communicate clinical information

  • Ability to gather, analyze and interpret relevant data and use interpretations in the development of solution-oriented problem solving and business planning

  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects

  • Must have excellent presentation and communication skills

Preferred Experience:

  • 6 years’ experience in project management or communications/marketing or health technology a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex relationships with external partners and allied organizations

  • Knowledge of voluntary health organizations and experience in group process with the ability to resolve conflicts and gain consensus through mediation and collaboration highly desirable
