The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

The social media internship will work with our digital team within the Eastern States Marketing and Communication department to gain professional experience with a national non-profit organization while working directly to create compelling content for our state social channels.

Internship Overview:

  • Time Commitment: 20 hours per week

  • Internship Duration: 1/16/2024 – 5/3/2024

  • Remote Position – Must be located in our Eastern States Region (ME, NH, VT, NY, MA, RI, CT, NJ, PA, DE, MD, WV, VA)

  • Salary: $23.00 per hour

Internship Outcomes:

Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to:

  • Gain important and practical job skills to be successful in a non-profit environment.

  • Opportunity to explore a career path with a reputable voluntary health/service organization.

  • Gain experience in the professional world while learning about social media management.

  • Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others.

Responsibilities

Tasks could include things like the following:

  • Work with the digital team to craft and execute social media posts for Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram.

  • Monitor results of social media content on key platforms and provide analysis of findings.

  • Source new content ideas and monitor trends on social platforms.

  • Conduct an analysis of what other organizations and brands are doing on social media and present findings to the broader brand marketing team.

  • Learn brand standards and ensure content aligns with the goals and mission of the organization.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of college education preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience with social media platforms, including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram.

  • Knowledge and experience with social media scheduling tools, such as Sprinklr or similar.

  • Basic video, graphic design, and writing skills. Canva or a similar experience is preferred.

  • Experience with social media monitoring, reporting, and analysis.

  • Ability to deal professionally in a corporate or non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects and programs from inception through completion.

  • Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.

  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm EST.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
