The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. Our Eastern States Business Operations team is seeking an intern for the summer to support our work within the Region focusing primarily on research of the individual state laws and summarizing, also assisting with the Region contract review process.

Internship Overview:
Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week
Internship Duration: 1/16/24 – 5/3/24
Hybrid-Intern must live in the Pittsburgh, PA, or Glen Allen, VA region
Salary: $23.00 per hour

Responsibilities
Tasks could include things like the following:
Work as a liaison between the Eastern States Region with the Associations legal department to process vendor contracts and ensure proper insurance requirements are met.
Collecting competitive bids on event venues and services in various markets.
Prepare reports, presentations, instructions, correspondence, and documentation as needed in a timely manner, specifically but not limited, in Smartsheet format.
Perform other duties as required to support services provided by the Business Operations department.
Work independently and within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects.
Qualifications
Candidates must be proficient in SmartSheets.
Some event planning experience required. Experince can include a job, volunteer work and, campus event planning.
Previous experience working with business contracts preferred.
Demonstrated excellence in written communications skills.
Ability to deal professionally in a corporate or non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects and programs from inception through completion.
Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Preferred but not required, some experience with a law background.
Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.
Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
