This internship provides a rewarding experience with experience in a professional work environment where professional skills can be developed. Interns have the opportunity to observe, assist, and learn about the work done at AHA. They will learn hands-on field development and support signature events and campaigns including Heart Month, CycleNation, Go Red for Women, Heart Ball, and community impact work
The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

Internship Overview:
Time Commitment: 20-25 hours
Internship Duration: 1/21/25-5/2/25
Location: Richmond, VA/Central Virginia region- Must be able to work in office Glen Allen, VA office on Tuesdays and Thursdays and attend local American Heart Association Events
Salary: $23.00 per hour
Internship Outcomes:

Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others
Responsibilities
Tasks could include things like the following:
Assistance with pre-event planning and projects related to events within the market.
Develop collateral for events and mission related materials including save the dates, invitations, and programs.
Help with social media planning for local events.
Working alongside Volunteers to support a committees related to core campaigns.
Help with volunteer recruitment and management.
Donor stewardship.
Assistance with community outreach and events.
Help with Spring Auction including organizing and displaying auction items, creating auction marketing collateral, photographing auction items and packages.
Qualifications
Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in fundraising, event planning/management, and/or business-non-profit organizations.
Comfortable making cold calls to donors and potential supporters.
Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
Ability to deal professionally in a corporate or non-profit environment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Canva.
Required Equipment: Reliable Wi-Fi Connection.
Ability/willingness to travel locally; have a means of reliable transportation.
Minimum availability of 20 hrs./wk., M-F between the hours of 8:30 am-5 pm.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
