Responsibilities

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Fundraising Director (Youth Market Director) in Colorado . Under the direction of the Youth Market Vice President, the Fundraising Director is responsible for implementing the American Heart Assciation's Kids Heart Challenge events, previously known as Jump Rope for Heart. This position works with school-based coordinators, (typically the PE Teacher) and the school principal to raise funds through our school-based educational fundraising program. The Fundraising Director will act as the American Heart Association liaison with superintendents, district staff, and school-based staff in Denver.

This position is also responsible for performing assemblies with approximately 50 of the schools and must be comfortable presenting to a large number of children and adults. You would be responsible for achieving income and recruitment goals through the management of existing customers, and prospecting for and cultivating of new school accounts. The fundraising goal will be approximately $450,000 with 150 schools participating.

This position works closely with 150 schools in an area that extends from North Denver to the Wyoming state line. Travel within that area will be needed, at time 3-4 days per week and with the potential for overnight travel 5-10 times per year. This position is home based with field-time spent in the car.

The travel will be in Fraser, Steamboat, Meeker and surrounding mountain areas. We offer a yearly salary, a yearly incentive for exceeding the fundraising goals for the position, travel reimbursement, and a great benefits package. This position is home based but the majority of the workday will be spent traveling by car to schools across the Northern Colorado region. To qualify for this position you must live in the territory (Denver, Longmont, Boulder, Fort Collins, Windsor, Loveland or surrounding areas).

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred. College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree. Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1 ½ years of experience equates to 1 full-time year of higher education.

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience, including proven success in sales, marketing or fundraising required.

  • Must have the ability to lift at least 20 lbs. from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Must have proficient knowledge and skill with office-related computer programs used for word processing, email, and spreadsheets and be very organized.

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary:

Salary minimum to midpoint of the range: $63,000-$83,480.

Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply . AHA reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any difference between actual compensation and the posted range will be based on factors other than race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy) or national origin.

Benefit Plans: Employees scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in the medical, dental, and vision plans the first of the month following 30 days of service. AHA subsidizes the medical and dental cost to ensure benefits are affordable. Eligible dependents under AHA’s group benefit plans include legal spouse, domestic partner, children under the age of 26 or who are disabled. AHA offers additional benefits like an EAP, telehealth benefit for general medical and behavioral health, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, and disability.

Retirement Plans : AHA retirement plans offer employees a way to start saving after their first paycheck. The retirement plans provide employer contributions after two years of service. If you have previous 501(c)(3) non-profit experience, within the last 5 years, at a national health agency, an institution of higher learning or a medical institution, that experience may count towards the two-year waiting period. Employees are 100% vested in employee and employer contributions.

Paid Days Off: Regular full-time and part-time employees earn Paid Time Off (PTO) based on years of service. PTO begins accruing on date of hire. Full time employees receive one paid Community Service time off day per year and are encouraged to participate in projects, programs and organizations which contribute to the health and vitality of their communities. AHA also offers 12 paid holidays per year.

Leaves of Absence : AHA offers both Short Term and Long Term Disability benefits which replace earnings if you are unable to work due to a non-work-related illness or injury. Employees are eligible for Short Term Disability after 90 days of service and are eligible for Long Term Disability after being disabled for 90 days or more. Eligible employees can take up to 12 weeks off of work for a qualified leave of absence under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), intermittent FMLA leaves and leave as an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA.
