The American Heart Association has an opportunity for a Video & Design Director in the SouthWest Region . As the Video & Design Director for the SouthWest Region, you will make an extraordinary impact by working with development and health strategies colleagues to craft and deliver strategic communications and marketing support.
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Brand-Content, the Video & Design Director manages in-house graphic design and produces video and print materials for local staff throughout the SouthWest Region (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico); and ensures proper and consistent logo use, branding and style in materials and on Web site.
This is a remote position and is open to candidates living within the SouthWest Region.
In this role, you will be responsible to:
Manage the cost-effective, on-time, high-quality design/editing/printing of projects for the Region (flyers, posters, invitations, event materials, etc.) as requested via the Graphic Design Request system.
Manage the on-time editing & production of targeted, high-quality video and animation projects.
Create high-quality, compelling content and templates, and enable staff to easily localize materials.
Create graphic design elements for web and social media as requested.
Consult with and guide staff on the use of American Heart Association branding guidelines and statistical information.
Train staff in best practices for shooting high quality photos and video for use in projects as well as how to use locally customizable print and web templates.
Procure and maintain hardware and software for increased cost-effectiveness, efficiency and quality of graphic design projects.
Prepare and monitor adherence to Video & Design Director budget.
Utilize existing national and affiliate materials, products and tools.
Willingness to accept other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Director of Brand-Content or Senior Vice President of Revenue and Engagement.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in graphic design, design, multi-media design, mass communications, or related field.
Minimum of two years’ experience in communications, graphic design, video production, public relations, or related work.
Excellent video creation and video editing skills, proficient in Adobe After Effects & Premiere Pro
Proficiency in graphic design using Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign and a practical understanding of print production, web design and electronic content.
The ability to take responsibility for the overall management of project production without needing to have final control or format, content, etc.
Experience in a nonprofit volunteer environment desirable.
Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of American Heart Association staff, volunteers, and the public.
Strong organizational skills.
Intermediate knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint.
Ability to lift at least 20 lbs. from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary minimum to midpoint of the range is $53,900 to $73,500. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
AHA reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any difference between actual compensation and the posted range will be based on factors other than race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy) or national origin.
Employees scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in the medical, dental, and vision plans the first of the month following 30 days of service. AHA subsidizes the medical and dental cost to ensure benefits are affordable. Eligible dependents under AHA’s group benefit plans include legal spouse, domestic partner, children under the age of 26 or who are disabled. AHA offers additional benefits like an EAP, telehealth benefit for general medical and behavioral health, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, and disability.
Retirement Plans: AHA retirement plans offer employees a way to start saving after their first paycheck. The retirement plans provide employer contributions after two years of service. If you have previous 501(c)(3) non-profit experience, within the last 5 years, at a national health agency, an institution of higher learning or a medical institution, that experience may count towards the two-year waiting period. Employees are 100% vested in employee and employer contributions.
Paid Days Off: Regular full-time and part-time employees earn Paid Time Off (PTO) based on years of service. PTO begins accruing on date of hire. Full time employees receive one paid Community Service time off day per year and are encouraged to participate in projects, programs and organizations which contribute to the health and vitality of their communities. AHA also offers 12 paid holidays per year.
Leaves of Absence: AHA offers both Short Term and Long Term Disability benefits which replace earnings if you are unable to work due to a non-work-related illness or injury. Employees are eligible for Short Term Disability after 90 days of service and are eligible for Long Term Disability after being disabled for 90 days or more. Eligible employees can take up to 12 weeks off of work for a qualified leave of absence under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), intermittent FMLA leaves and leave as an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA.
