The American Heart Association has an excellent job opportunity for a Marketing Planning Manager position in our Marketing and Communications department!

This position can be home based.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing strategic coordinated marketing plans and leading campaigns for assigned Consumer Health Portfolio in support of the American Heart Association (AHA) mission, consumer health objectives and organizational impact goals. Responsible for leading all aspects of integrated marketing, strategy and OKRs, audience targeting and persona development, channel mix, defined KPIs, execution and performance analysis within each plan. Responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams (Consumer Health, Branding, Communications, Social, Digital, Science to name a few) to deliver consistent messaging and creative across all channels. Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders to meet the business needs and successfully

  • implement assigned marketing plans.

  • Develop integrated marketing plans and campaigns including briefs and project management framework for Consumer Health business units to advance mission impact and brand relevance. Lead integrated marketing strategy, budget, implementation, execution, measurement, and invoicing process.

  • Research, identify and recommend marketing concepts often for populations with barriers to healthcare.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external strategic partners to build, implement, and ensure planned assets are distributed in alignment with overall marketing strategies across owned, paid, and earned channels (with Communications) that engages the targeted audiences and increases conversions Locates new opportunities to demonstrate existing channels or pilot new channels.

  • Documents campaign performance such as efficiency, opportunities and lessons learned to advise future optimization recommendations. Collaborates with analysts and cross functional teams to develop and present performance insights and recommendations for future optimizations and next steps of assigned marketing campaign.

  • Implements tests and key takeaways through strong internal cross-functional and external partnerships to continually optimize and supervise channel performance and audience engagement and conversions.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration / Public Health/ and or Marketing and Communications Degree or equivalent work experience

  • Two years (2) – Five (5) years of experience in the related field.

  • Experience in developing integrated marketing strategy and leading campaigns to address business needs (fact-based substantiation)

  • Experience in working with multiple vendors/partners (internally and externally) with critical timelines and multiple project requirements.

  • Experience developing and leading integrated marketing campaign budgets and billing processes

  • Ability to develop and analyze conceptual strategies and recommend changes to optimize marketing performance

  • Ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders – business, creative, media, legal, science, internal partners, and product owners. Ability to manage and influence without direct authority

  • Excellent cross-functional team, project, and organizational leadership skills with the proven track record to interact with and influence across all levels and functions

  • Ability to align strategic marketing with operational, tactical and performance planning

  • Ability to capture audiences with compelling narratives and possesses excellent deck-building and written/verbal communication skills

  • Basic knowledge of populations and audience precise targeting for contextual messaging for social determinants of health

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in healthcare marketing and promotions to patients, healthcare consumers/potential patients and healthcare professionals
